Australia - the movie

I've heard too many people make harsh criticism of this movie by Baz Luhrmann. I think those critics have an agenda of their own rather than an honest review.
Australia is an entertaining epic.
I had not planned to go and watch this movie. It was a busy time of year and I had way too much work to do. But my wife really wanted to go, so I did.
I enjoyed it. Baz Luhrmann has done a great job. He usually does deliver an interesting movie, and Australia is certainly that.
Yes, the movie stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman - two Australian actors who have made it big around the world. It also has a great supporting cast.
The real star is Brandon Walters, who plays the part of Nullah, an aboriginal boy living on a Northern Territory cattle station owned by Nicole Kidman's character Lady Sarah Ashley.
The film is set during World War 2 when the Japanese Army was conquering South East Asia.
I am not sure why this movie is called Australia - it's a romantic action adventure set in the Northern Territory of Australia. This area is more a pioneering frontier than a reflection of the rest of the nation of Australia.
Apparently the movie goes for 165 minutes. Some people consider this long for a movie, but I have to tell you I did not notice the time. It's a well paced movie that does not drag at all.
Go and see this one.
